Overall, this Spring season is actually…decent. Better than any of the others shows I watched last season (pfft, as if I watched anything last season. I just got a pixiv spam of Madoka Magica images and that was all I heard of from last season). Sadly, there will only be one show I’ll be reviewing on this blog this season, mainly because I don’t have the time or effort to write reviews of the 3 (well, 4 if you count Stein;Gate, which I’ve been holding off on) shows I’m watching this season. So on with the impressions!:
Ao no Exorcist:
This show…was alright. The characters were fine, the plot was fine, but it wasn’t the best thing I’ve watched this season, especially if you compare it with the other shows that have been airing. Rin’s a cutie, I read some of the manga and it was fine as well, but what I’m not fond of are long, dragged -out shounen battles that take the majority of the episode. I can’t stand that. And a long battle an episode with drama intertwined with it is fine, as long as the characters’ drama stands out more than the fighting (for example, the 2nd chapter of the manga). However, the 2nd episode of the anime didn’t dazzle me with its long battle that took a little more than half the episode. Sadly, I’m not gonna review this on the site (I’m just gonna watch this in my private time).
Hanasaku Iroha:
Hanasaku Iroha was a definite improvement from most slice-of-life animes I’d seen in my life. The first episode was great, since the main character wasn’t as annoying as I thought she’d be, the characters weren’t actually going out of their personalities within the first half of the episode, and for once, there was actual drama inside a slice-of-life show. However, I wasn’t fond of the second episode and I think it’ll go downhill from here. Even so, I’ll still watch it privately to see the resolution of Kou and Ohana. By the way…why is it called Hansaku Iroha if it’s about Ohana? I keep thinking Ohana’s name is Iroha every time I see the title.
Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai
Otherwise known as Ano Hana. This is the only anime that I’m gonna be reviewing on this site, just for the sake of actually putting stuff on my blog. Also because the episodes get released on Friday, which is the happy day for me. The first episode was an emotional rollercoaster for me, and the show hasn’t let me down even after 3 whole episodes. It strikes that little emotional part of my heart that actually allows me to feel bittersweet feelings, if that’s even possible. But anyways. Ano Hana. Best show I’ve seen this year. Not that I’ve seen many anime this year.
