Spring 2011 Anime Impressions

Credits: せばすちゃ | Pixiv

Overall, this Spring season is actually…decent. Better than any of the others shows I watched last season (pfft, as if I watched anything last season. I just got a pixiv spam of Madoka Magica images and that was all I heard of from last season). Sadly, there will only be one show I’ll be reviewing on this blog this season, mainly because I don’t have the time or effort to write reviews of the 3 (well, 4 if you count Stein;Gate, which I’ve been holding off on) shows I’m watching this season. So on with the impressions!:

Ao no Exorcist:

This show…was alright. The characters were fine, the plot was fine, but it wasn’t the best thing I’ve watched this season, especially if you compare it with the other shows that have been airing. Rin’s a cutie, I read some of the manga and it was fine as well, but what I’m not fond of are long, dragged -out shounen battles that take the majority of the episode. I can’t stand that. And a long battle an episode with drama intertwined with it is fine, as long as the characters’ drama stands out more than the fighting (for example, the 2nd chapter of the manga). However, the 2nd episode of the anime didn’t dazzle me with its long battle that took a little more than half the episode. Sadly, I’m not gonna review this on the site (I’m just gonna watch this in my private time).

Hanasaku Iroha:

I have no Pixiv images for Hanasaku Iroha, weirdly enough.

Hanasaku Iroha was a definite improvement from most slice-of-life animes I’d seen in my life. The first episode was great, since the main character wasn’t as annoying as I thought she’d be, the characters weren’t actually going out of their personalities within the first half of the episode, and for once, there was actual drama inside a slice-of-life show. However, I wasn’t fond of the second episode and I think it’ll go downhill from here. Even so, I’ll still watch it privately to see the resolution of Kou and Ohana. By the way…why is it called Hansaku Iroha if it’s about Ohana? I keep thinking Ohana’s name is Iroha every time I see the title.

Otherwise known as Ano Hana. This is the only anime that I’m gonna be reviewing on this site, just for the sake of actually putting stuff on my blog. Also because the episodes get released on Friday, which is the happy day for me. The first episode was an emotional rollercoaster for me, and the show hasn’t let me down even after 3 whole episodes. It strikes that little emotional part of my heart that actually allows me to feel bittersweet feelings, if that’s even possible. But anyways. Ano Hana. Best show I’ve seen this year. Not that I’ve seen many anime this year.

Ano Hana Episode 3

I’ll start Steins;Gate later on. So far, it hasn’t impressed me. At least, with the colors.

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 2

Meh. I’ll start Steins;Gate tomorrow. For now, I have to catch up on Iroha. Now, to remember names! Tohru…Nako…Minko…

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai Episode 2

Oh…I can’t help but copy and paste that ridiculously long title. Anyways, I need to remember the names of characters. It’s such a pain to start a new anime and have problems remembering everyone’s names. Tsuruko…Anaru…Jin…Menma…Yukiatsu…Po…

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 1

Time to begin the next anime I’m looking forward to this month, Hanasaku Iroha! How very…pretty. Oh dear. I just realized the only reason I felt like watching this is because the art was nice…

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai Episode 1

Anime producers are just torturing me with these titles. Making longer and longer ones every season…I swear…

Summary:

I…can’t summarize it. It was…great, to say the least.

Thoughts:

I can’t understand what I liked about this anime other than…it was fabulous. The characters…the flashbacks…the animation…the mystery of Menma…the drama…and all of these beautiful childhood friends just…I don’t know which of these things I like about the show but what I can truly say is: I thoroughly enjoyed it. I even liked Menma. This post will be rather short. Just go and watch the anime if you haven’t, because it’s by far the best thing I’ve seen this season.

Ao no Exorcist Episodes 1 and 2

Hello again my…stalkers! Hey, if you’re still reading this blog, then you really are a stalker. I’m…half back! Sadly, the only reason I’m back is because the MMO I’m playing is undergoing server maintenance, so I may as well use this time to catch up on everything I’ve missed which is…a few episodes of some of the new Spring anime. I took all of Winter finishing my backlog, so I feel as free as a bird…that can fly.

First up is Ao no Exorcist, the only anime I looked forward to this season. Other animes I’m looking forward to are…Maria Holic 2 and…Steins;Gate…Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (cough that’s a crazyass title…)…Hana-Saku Iroha…and that’s all. That’s right. I played that game on you. Oh.

And, WOO! Persona 4 anime is coming out! This Fall I believe. That means…I’m gonna be here all Fall this year. That’s great news for you stalkers…not so great news for you haters out there who wish to slice my guts. Then again, you shouldn’t even be reading this if you hate me.

Anyways, onwards with Ao no Exorcist episodes! But first…I have to figure out how my screen capture program works again. It’s been so long.
